Train Set Checklist
If you know the answers to the following questions your train set decision will be easy.
- Where will you put the train set and how big is the space? Knowing train set dimension limits will help to narrow your choice.
- Will you put the train set on the floor or on a table?
- Do you already have a table you can use or will you also need a train table with your set?
- Do you want a simple starter train set or one with "the works"?
Now that you've thought it through you're ready to pick that train set!
Train Tables and Train Sets
You might be thinking, "What?s the difference between a train table and a train set?" A train table is simply a table that was specifically made to hold a train set. A train set is a full, kid size railroad with trains and train accessories. Most of our train tables come with a train set, but we do offer separate train tables if you already have a set to place on top. You also have the option to order just the train set without the table. This is up to you.
If you have the space then a complete package with train set and train table with trundle drawers is the way to go. You'll have a dedicated train spot, plus room to store all your train accessories and believe me, your child will want more and more accessories each year and will need a place to put them.
Starter Train Sets for Toddlers
If your toddler or preschooler suddenly asks to be referred to as Chief Engineer or Conductor then you know a train set is in order. For a child under 3 years of age you might want to consider starting with a toddler-friendly train set that has larger pieces and an easier track to navigate. This will be a great introduction to the world of trains, without the worries of chocking hazards. Below are a few of our favorite starter train sets perfect for every train loving toddler!
