Kids Toys That Improve Kids' Manners

Kids and Manners Don't Mesh

Kids and manners don't seem to go together which makes a parent's job so much harder. I, like many other parents, have found myself saying the same thing over and over "Now, what do you say to the nice lady?" Only to have my child give me a blank stare of confusion, making me wonder who secretly dropped her on her head when she was a baby!

Why are Please and Thank You Such Hard Words to Remember?

Why can't kids remember to say "Please" and "Thank You"? These are just two simple words, yet you'd think you asked your kids to remember Lincoln's Gettysburg Address! After my thousandth time saying the previously mentioned statement...which I refuse to repeat again...I was inspired to create a lesson on manners with the help of kids toys!

GuideCraft Multi-Cultural Family Kit

Teaching Manners Using Kids Toys Actually Works - I realized that the only time I had my kids' full attention was during playtime. With the help of several dolls, like the GuideCraft Multi-Cultural Family Kit, I cleverly tricked my kids into thinking we were playing with their toys all while I was actually teaching them about manners.

My children got to choose their favorite characters and I chose mine and we roll played several scenarios where saying "please" and "thank you" were essential. We acted as teacher and student, pretended to be friends hanging out, went on a play shopping spree and more. Every time, I came up with one reason for them to have to say either "please" or "thank you" during the skit! We had lots of laughs and found out that we're quite the actresses, but when all was said and done it was as if the "manners light bulb" flicked on in their heads.

I'm not saying that my kids have perfect manners, but the use of the terms "please" and "thank you" has definitely increased and flows from their mouths much more easily these days. If they forget, now I can simply give them "the eye" and they know what they need to say.

So I'd like to say "Thank you!" to kids toys and educational play for helping my kids learn some manners and I'd like to ask all you parents out there to "please" have some fun teaching your kids manners too.
